Remote Care & Telemedicine

Who follows through when remote care breaks down?

A missed device transmission or a dropped video visit can leave staff calling patients, opening support tickets, and piecing together what happened. Mendent is developing a co-managed service for organizations that want clearer ownership of those technical problems. Start with one workflow and decide what a pilot should measure.

Clinical team coordinating a remote care workflow

Two workflows we can explore

Telemedicine

Trace a failed visit from the first report through technical escalation, rescheduling and confirmation that the visit was completed.

Remote care monitoring

Trace a missing transmission through enrollment, device connectivity, platform delivery and the handoff to the program's designated owner.

Both are illustrative scenarios.

What a managed services pilot could cover

Mendent could act as a managed service provider (MSP) for the technical exceptions around your remote care program - the part that is nobody's full-time job today. A pilot could include:

  • Mapping the workflow as it actually runs today
  • Coordinating agreed technical exceptions with internal IT and vendors
  • Reviewing unresolved issues with the program's designated owner
  • Checking that fixes worked and that exceptions stopped repeating

Before a pilot, the parties agree on access, coverage hours, reporting, responsibilities and escalation contacts. The healthcare organization defines clinical escalation thresholds and retains responsibility for patient assessment and care decisions.

Managed services foundation

Investigate the network before recommending a fix

Remote care depends on networks nobody sees: devices, Wi-Fi, carriers, platforms and vendors. Our managed services approach starts with understanding what is actually moving across those paths, so recommendations are based on evidence rather than guesswork. Two technologies sit behind that approach.

Deep Packet Inspection

DPI examines network traffic beyond basic packet headers to identify traffic patterns, classify communications, detect anomalies, support security policies and provide network intelligence.

Healthcare applications

  • Network visibility and cybersecurity
  • Medical device communication profiling
  • Anomaly and DDoS detection
  • Network performance monitoring
  • Security event reporting

Encryption limits what DPI can inspect. We do not assume DPI can automatically decrypt or interpret protected communications.

Model Context Protocol

MCP provides a standardized interface through which AI applications and agents access approved tools, resources and contextual information. It is an integration layer between AI applications and external systems.

  • An approved AI application reaches only the tools and data it is granted
  • A read-only assistant could summarize device-status events and service tickets
  • Tested first with synthetic data, limited access and human review

MCP does not perform packet inspection and does not independently provide cybersecurity. Those controls remain separate and are configured on purpose.

Our working hypothesis

DPI could supply a real-time network intelligence layer, while MCP could make selected intelligence available to AI agents for investigation, interpretation, reporting and appropriately controlled operational actions.

Together, these technologies may contribute to a more secure and intelligent healthcare technology environment. This is a hypothesis under evaluation, not a guaranteed outcome or a claim of savings.

What success would look like

Sample measures include the baseline and target defined with each participating organization:

  • Time from first report to an assigned owner
  • Repeat disruptions by site
  • Staff time spent coordinating vendors
  • Share of technical issues verified as resolved

Bring us one recurring remote care issue. We'll discuss who owns the workflow today and whether a focused pilot makes sense.

Discuss a remote care pilot

Tell us about the workflow that keeps breaking down. This form is for organizational inquiries only - please do not use it for medical help or to share patient information.

Remote care inquiry

Please describe the operational issue in general terms. Leave out patient names, records, and other sensitive information.

We reply within one business day and never share your information.
